About Brandon Wang

Hi! I'm Brandon. I’m an entrepreneur, engineering leader, and optimist.
Most recently, I cofounded and was CTO of the Artificial Intelligence Underwriting Company (AIUC), where I wrote the AIUC-1 AI safety, security, and reliability standard. Prior to AIUC, I was also:
- Cofounder/CTO of Dreambound, the #1 search engine for career education and previously the issuer and underwriter of new ways to help Americans pay for vocational training. After 5 years, I left Dreambound in my cofounders' good hands.
- Founder/CEO of Conduit Analytics, where we used AI to build at-scale relationship graphs (think natural language processing- but before ChatGPT, so harder and not as good). Conduit was acquired in 2019.
- Director of product and hire #1 at StratoDem Analytics, a real-estate data science services company, where I scaled the team and productized our vision. StratoDem was acquired by Altus Group in 2021.
- Studied computer science at Harvard University (including helping write the new CS curriculum) before dropping out.
My advising and investing interest areas are in AI safety; businesses creating developer, product and infrastructure for AI; underwriting and fintech; and businesses using design for leverage.
I am a high-throughput learner who often gets lost in all his Wikipedia tabs. I wrote my first line of PHP in second grade (some fun stories). I credit so much early curiosity to open-source software and the accessibility of the Internet, where I could contribute and learn without regard for age.
My earliest professional work was in education reform and technology. I made a popular online academic planner; was the youngest employee in Teach For America history; and, from that work, spun out a major nonprofit which provided K-12 extracurricular programs at hundreds of schools from 2012 thru 2020.
I’m a 2020 Thiel Fellow, a 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 recipient, and a 2018 Interact Fellow. I coauthored a 2015 book on breaking down age barriers. My only degree is a high school diploma from Phillips Exeter Academy.
I was born in Houston, Texas, and now live in San Francisco, California.
